The war on the Mexican border continues quietly, and under the radar of the Washington elite who choose not to deal with the problems for fear of offending the growing Hispanic voting bloc.

United States Customs and Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas was killed Thursday night while responding to a call near the town of Campo, California. Rosas, who is 30, responding alone to this call and was gunned down by what is thought to be drug smugglers coming across the border by car.

“My thoughts and condolences are with Agent Rosas’ family and his fellow agents at this difficult time,” said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement.

“His death is a vivid reminder that we are engaged in a serious effort to secure our border and that thousands of Border Patrol agents and other DHS employees risk their lives every single day to protect and defend our nation.”

The growing concern of the Mexican drug violence spilling over in the southwest has been growing for a while. Yet we continue to do nothing about it. Drug cartels have been raging a war against Mexican officials for years, its only a matter of time before it comes into the US (which it already has on some levels) and we will undoubtedly continue to see the escalation of this type of violence, unless the root issue of controlling our southern border is dealt with. We do not need the constant flow of illegals coming into our country, let alone the lawless element of Mexico continuing their activities in our homeland. Our border is porous and should be a top priority of our government, no matter who you are going to offend. Its our security we are talking about.

One of the questions that popped into my head about this latest incident is why was Agent Rosas responding alone? I am not exactly sure of the way they operate, if its similar to a normal policing situation, but I would have thought he would have had a partner.  Its kind of an irrelevant point I suppose, but could have made a difference in preventing this tragedy.

According to Michelle Malkin, there has been a break in this case….

KPIX in San Francisco is reporting that two men and one woman were arrested in relation to this case in a San Jose Hospital where they were seeking treatment. Reportedly, a blood sample of one of the assailants was found at the scene. Reports that the Agent may have been shot with his own weapon are unconfirmed at this time.

This tragedy underscores the need for a better fence and tighter control over the United States Border with Mexico. It also signals an escalation of the violence on this side of the fence or lack thereof. The area where the agent was killed is still only protected by the decades old ten-foot fence that smugglers and illegal immigrants have been scaling or crawling under since it was installed.

Local residents and citizen border watchers are stricken with grief, many of whom knew and worked with Agent Rosas…Agent Rosas is survived by a wife and two small children. Flags across the area are flying at half-staff.

Rosas was the first CBP agent to die in the line of duty in more than a decade. I salute him and offer prayers for his family.

Let me take a moment to tick off a few of the things the new President of the United States has dealt with and is dealing with in just over 6 months in office.

• Iranian Revolution – what to say, what not to say. Biggest challenge to let it play out.
• Oh by the way, if Ahmadinejad stays in office – the Iranian nuclear threat
• Iraq war – drawing it down and peacefully handing it off to the Iraqi government. (Bush did all the leg work on this one)
• Afghanistan – a struggling democracy vital to American interests.
• Pakistan – Taliban moving from Afghanistan into the Swat Valley attempting to overthrow the Pakistani democracy. Oh by the way, if they are successful, a nuclear Taliban.
• Darfur – what to do here, since basically nothing has been done thus far. Oh by the way, people are still dying there daily.
• North Korea – this insane little man is doing alot of saber rattling. Oh by the way, that saber may have a nuclear warhead on it sooner than later.
• Closing Guantanamo – he brought this one on himself with his ill advised opening day signing.
• Israel – They are still our friends right? See the Iranian crisis for more info on this one. We still need to look out for our buddies. And Ahmadi wants them outta here….

Now lets head to the home front for some more problems. I think you know where I am going with all of this…

• A depressed economy – handed off from his predecessor, and has failed miserably at stemming the recession.
• Now the proud owner of a American car iconic company – brought this one on himself.
• Right-wing extremists (such as myself according to DHS) – this one im just kidding. Start paying attention BO.
• Teaparties – oh right, he didn’t know they were going on.
• Socialized medicine – whats another trillion or two in the grand scheme of things right *sarcasm
• 11 trillion dollar debt – ’nuff said
• almost a 4 trillion dollar budget (loaded with ridiculous pet projects) this one is his own fault.
• Proud owner of banks, credit default swaps, and other assorted financial “stuff” that I wont pretend to know about.
• Joe Biden
• Hillary Clinton
• Janet Nap
• Tim Geithner
• Getting to work on picking a better Cabinet

My point in all of this is simple. Who would even want this job?? I suppose making an end run at absolute power is worth it in the end. One problem, and you can add this to the list of problems. The Constitution and the American people WILL NOT allow absolute power to run our country. We will not become Iran as it is today.

The Republican Party has let down the conservative base yet again. Rep. Peter King (R) – NY has introduced this bill in the House of Representatives, and it is currently going through the beginning stages of the legislative process. This bill has been tentatively entitled “Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009” which of course on the surface sounds like a great idea, I mean we can all agree that we don’t want terrorists buying guns and bombs in our country right? The problem comes with the authority that the Attorney General of the United States is given within this piece of legislation. It gives the AG’s office an open ended authority to deny the sale of firearms to any person as long as they can be suspected of being a threat. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, however the AG Janet Napolitano has recently released a report  stating that those with views that are in opposition to the President (ie: abortion) could be considered and suspected of being a domestic terrorist threat. She also named returning veterans in the same report as being potential radicals and a security threat. To date, she has not retracted or clarified her statements within the report, other than to apologize to our United States servicemen and women. While I can wholeheartedly agree with the idea of keeping weapons out of the hands of dangerous terrorists (the real terrorists, see Guantanamo) I have a hard time buying into this legislation due to the AG’s views on political opponents. The second Ammendment of the United States Constitution states clearly that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It doesn’t get a whole lot clearer than that! She is defining political opponents as domestic threats, and this legislation is attempting to subvert the right granted to us through the second ammendment.

The Political Fish will follow this piece of legislation through the process, to see if any changes in the language and wording are made. The people of this country were granted certain rights and priveledges from the founding Fathers, and these should not be given up without a fight. This administration has gone out of their way to trample on the Constitution in the first 100 days, most of which has flown under the radar of the mass media. We will stay as engaged as we can, and will update as necessary.

A recent report put out by the Department of Homeland Security (see link below) has officially labeled me as a potential domestic terrorist, right-wing extremist, and a greater homegrown threat than those threats abroad.

Of course they didn’t label me specifically….but im sure big brother is watching.

The Obama administration put out a full blown hit job on the conservatives across our great land. In the days following the teaparties, the left and their puppet media has gone out of their way to dismiss the gathering of Americans to protest our government, and their recently hatched and furiously advancing socialistic policies. The timing of the DHS report could not have been any more perfect. Released on April 15th, Janet Napolitano reported to law enforcement nationwide that the climate is ripe for homegrown right-wing extremists to become a tremendous threat to the safety and security of America.

Quoting from the report… “Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.  It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration. ”

This is an absolutely outrageous paragraph. Amazingly, she goes on to state that among the biggest threats are returning Armed Service members, who due to battlefield stresses and their advanced training, are particularly succeptible to “radicalization” and “recruitment”.

Where shall I begin. The entire report is not a total loss. She speaks about the normal type of threats that we have dealt with at home in the past. But this notion that those who oppose abortion are all of a sudden planning on blowing up clinics is ludicrous. To slander the returning vets by basically saying they are weak-minded and can be manipulated into joining this terrorist movement is beyond the pale. As quoted above, those who reject federal authority in favor of state and local authority, is a statement in direct contradiction to the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Federalization of all authority is the exact thing the founding fathers fought the Revolutionary War about. State sovereignty is Constitutional and as “American” as it gets.

As if all this isn’t enough…Ms. Napolitano has stood by this report, after claiming in an interview with Fox News that she hadn’t even read the final draft. How did this woman get her job????  Even bigger question, why does she still have her job???

One thing can be counted on. Free speech is under attack, and American patriots are going to rise up and not let that one go quietly.

I am a non-violent, freedom loving, anti-abortion, free-speech, libertarian conservative. The only threat I pose to this nation is my overwhelming desire to keep the freedoms that so many have fought and died for. Janet Napolitano…i wish you would read this. You are out of line, and should be out of a job like 10% of your countrymen.
