Representative Michelle Bachmann used the term tonight on the Sean Hannity show, and it could not possibly be more accurate. Listen as they speak about the newest monstrosity to come out of the Pelosi-led House of Representatives. 1,990 pages worth of healthcare nightmare, which will effectively take over 16% of the private, free-market economy of the United States, and will cost according the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office over 1.05 TRILLION dollars. This is socialism folks, and it is doomed to fail.
Here is the link to the section noted, page 92 of the bill. You will NOT be able to keep your insurance if you like it, you might be able to keep your insurance if it meets specific government regulations.
This is not an American bill….this is not an American plan…this is a Socialistic takeover of our once free land. It must be defeated.
I must admit, I sat and watched this video with mouth open, and not sure what to say. Let me first say with a little tongue-in-cheek that this Miley Cyrus song “Party in the USA” should not be getting this much airtime, but thats just me. But the actual sickening part is that a major news network, and I use that term loosely, would exploit these children on the air to sing a song about Obama and his healthcare plan. Even more disturbing to me is that they clearly learned this song in school, the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta GA. From the website, it would appear that this is a private school, so my disdain is not quite as great as it would be coming from a taxpayer-funded public school, but I still find this to be pretty disgusting.
Our President has really reached down to a new low. I’ll be waiting on Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or any of our countries infamous race-baiters to make a statement against black children being used as political props. I won’t be holding my breath. Watch this video, try to block out the lame Miley Cyrus tune, and see what the political debate has sunk to. My personal favorite is the shot they take at Rep. Joe Wilson for his “you Lie!” comment during President Obama’s speech to Congress.
I suppose that is what it will be called when they drag you off to jail for not participating in a government run insurance program (don’t want to call it the public option, that names gotten a bad rap).
The Foundry is reporting that is the case, that there will be up to a $25,000 fine, as well as up to a year in jail for willfully not having insurance. Wouldn’t the public option then be a tax on the middle class? I mean, if your going to jail for not joining the party, it seems that it would be a tax levied on the individual required to buy the government insurance plan. President Obama wanted to liken the public option requirement to carrying insurance on your car, but it seems to be a much stiffer penalty than not carrying auto insurance.
Sec 7023 of the code provides that if there is a willful failure to file, pay, maintain appropriate records and the like that the taxpayer may be charged with a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to $25,000 and not more than one year in jail.
Max Baucus (D-MT)
This is all part of the chronically marked up Baucus Healthcare bill being debated in the Senate Finance committee. Of course the public option is not free, we all knew that was going to be the case, it will be a nominal fee of $1900 to become enrolled. Of course, the public is unable to see the specifics of this bill (no doubt a behemoth in size) as it is still being worked on and worked out, not to mention that committee Democrats overturned an ammendment that would require the Senate to make the final version of the bill available to the public for viewing.
WASHINGTON – In a long-anticipated showdown, liberal Democrats twice failed on Tuesday to inject a government-run insurance option into sweeping health care legislation taking shape in the Senate, despite bipartisan agreement that private insurers must change their ways.
The two votes marked a victory for Montana Democrat Max Baucus, the Senate Finance Committee chairman, who is hoping to push his middle-of-the-road measure through the panel by week’s end. It also kept alive the possibility that at least one Republican may yet swing behind the overhaul, a key goal of both Baucus and the White House.
The developments occurred as Democrats in the House sought savings to reduce their companion legislation to roughly $900 billion over a decade, the price tag President Barack Obama has suggested.
Public option (jail-time included) dead? Maybe for now…who knows.
Humana Inc, one of the nations largest healthcare insurers is the new target of the United States Government employing political intimidation and hardball tactics on the private company in response to a letter they sent out to their customers enrolled in the Medicare Advantage program about looming changes coming their way through the new health care reform bill, currently being brokered by Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT). This is amazing by even Obama administration standards to go after a private company voicing its opposition to the Presidents plan. From WSJ.
Earlier this month, Humana sent a one-page letter to its customers enrolled in its Medicare Advantage plans, which offer private options to Medicare beneficiaries. Humana noted that, because of spending cuts proposed by Democrats, “millions of seniors and disabled individuals could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare Advantage health plans so valuable.” The Kentucky-based company also urged its customers to contact their Representatives. Pretty tame stuff, as these things go.
Mr. Baucus took it as a declaration of war. He complained to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal health-care agency, which on Friday duly ordered Humana to cease and desist. CMS claimed the mailer was “misleading and confusing” and told the company it has opened an official probe as to whether the mailer violated laws about how the insurers that manage Advantage plans are allowed to communicate with their customers, as well as other federal statutes.
“Please be advised that we take this matter very seriously and, based upon the findings our investigation, will pursue compliance and enforcement actions,” CMS concluded, ominously. Humana could be fined or booted from Medicare Advantage altogether.
Ah yes, nothing like the government vendetta against a private company, who one might consider the expert on the subject of health insurance reform. Now I am sure all of the haters out there will tell us that the only reason Humana would dare send that type of letter out is because they are the big greedy corporation ready to kill off any and every person on their rolls if it can save them a dollar, its the typical scare tactic from marxist progressives. But check out the facts here, they can after all be stubborn things.
In fact, the Baucus draft legislation slashes $123 billion over the next decade from Medicare Advantage, which Democrats hate despite the fact that almost one-fourth of beneficiaries have chosen it over traditional fee-for-service Medicare. One reason seniors like it is because private insurers focus on quality and preventive care and try to manage benefits, as opposed to simply paying bills.
A new study from America’s Health Insurance Plans, the industry trade group, finds that seniors on Advantage in California spent 30% fewer days in hospitals over fee-for-service patients, based on federal data. Democrats say that insurers are “overpaid,” but the cuts—as Humana correctly noted—mean that seniors may lose this coverage.
Mr. Baucus doesn’t want seniors to be educated about these facts, and obviously he’s willing to use his enormous power to punish any private company that doesn’t affirm his, well, creative version of reality. Nearly half of Humana’s yearly revenue comes from Medicare Advantage, and the insurer says that it is complying in full with the CMS investigation. Yesterday, the agency also barred all Advantage insurers from providing similar information to their beneficiaries.
Where are the Republicans in Congress standing up to this sort of over the top tyrannical behavior on the part of Baucus and the CMS. This is clearly part of their overarching strategy of intimidation and stifling of dissent in this country. We have watched it happen with all of the brushing aside of the teaparty movements, the outcry at the townhalls this past summer and every other opposing view of the Presidents healthcare proposal. It seems that once again, powerful Congressman are being allowed to run amock, while their colleagues stand idly by and watch. If Humana broke the law in their communique to their customers, then so be it, prosecute them. But the writing is on the wall here that the plan is to spin around some vague interpretation of a law and make an example.
It is sickening behavior on the part of the Obama administration. It does however fit the character of this Chicago-thugocracy that currently resides in the White House. Its a non-violent crackdown on the part of the United States Government to silence dissent. Its un-Constitutional and needs to be called out. I am sure we won’t see it on the DNC’s Call em Out website though.
An uncharacteristically emotional Nancy Pelosi is warning Republicans — and other groups getting whipped up over the health care debate — not to incite unstable supporters who might repeat acts of violence that struck San Francisco in the 1970s.
A top Pelosi aide later confirmed reporters’ suggestions that her statement was a reference to the City Hall murder of gay rights activist Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone in November 1978 — an earth-shattering experience for Bay Area Democrats like the speaker.
Pelosi stumbled when asked about Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” outburst and its impact on civility in the House, momentarily overcome by emotion.
“I think we all have to take action and responsibility for our words — we are a free country and this balance between freedom and safety is one that we, um, have to carefully balance,” said Pelosi, who made no direct mention of Republicans.
A House leadership aide later told me that Democrats have become increasingly concerned by the ratcheting up of rhetoric on both sides — and particularly alarmed by the recent hanging in effigy of Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-Md.) by a tea party activist on the Eastern Shore.
“I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw this myself in the late ’70s in San Francisco, this king of rhetoric. … It created a climate in which violence took place. … I wish we would all curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements and understand that some of the ears that it is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statements may assume.”
Ironic that right after Nancy Pelosi asserted the non-existent swastikas at the townhall meetings, all of a sudden, they actually did start popping up. Obviously I do not know who is responsible for this graffiti, whether it be an opponent of healthcare, or a proponent of healthcare but this is irresponsible and needs not to happen. Pelosi and her ilk want to silence the dissent by demonizing the dissenters, and if it was one of those dissenters who vandalized Rep. Scotts office, then you have just validated her inane argument. The conversation going on in America about healthcare is good, as long as it remains civil and legal. The beating in St. Louis last week, and this crime this week are not constructive.
This woman is something special, thats for sure. Wait..the video of her statement is even better, you can see the crocodile tears she chokes back, check this out.
As if Madam Speaker herself is not actually using the inflammatory rhetoric that may set someone off towards violence, lets check out what Comrade Obama had to say in his speech to the joint session of Congress last week.
“I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it’s better politics to kill this plan than improve it… If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we will call you out.”
President Obama
We will call you out eh? That sounds like schoolyard trash talk to me, not the words of a statesmen trying to unite his country around a common cause. By the way, that quote was pulled off the Democrat party’s new website which would be the callout page of Democrat.org.
Ms. Pelosi, put away your fake tears. As long as you continue to insult, demonize, diminish, and inflame regular Americans who disagree on policy, it seems you will have to live with the fear of reliving 70’s era San Francisco, which ironically enough was in the throes of a culture war at the time, very similar to what is happening in our great country right now. Weird, I know.
President Barack Obama will grace the masses en masse Sunday morning by appearing on This Week with George Stephanapoulos on ABC, Meet the Press on NBC, and Face the Nation on CBS. Assuming you miss any of those three, fear not because our fearless commander-in-chief will be hitting softballs out of the park with interviews on CNN as well as…get this…Univision. Yes, Spanish language television to reach out to that trusty Hispanic constituency. Fox apparently got the snub in this blitz, you go ahead and figure out the reason for that on your own.
Did you think I was done? Well, no…I’m not because President Obama will next be taking the act to the Big Apple to appear on Late Show with David Lettermen. Yes, that is another unprecedented move by a sitting US President. In this case its ok though, because at least it isn’t a part of the Sunday blitzkrieg. You will be able to get the afternoon Obama-free, until the Monday news cycle airs re-runs of every inane lie, half-truth, vaguery, and forked-tongue comment he makes from Sunday. Monday night, its party time on Lettermen. Graciously, Lettermen will devote the entire show to the President, at which time we can expect the teleprompter to teleprompt all the normal talking points that we have heard for 2 months now on healthcare.
Overexposure anyone? I’m thinking this new White House strategy equates to a battle of attrition. Whoever can speak the loudest and longest wins (at least they hope so). Miscalculation though, because the American people (yes, that would be the majority of Americans) are a stubborn lot that are no longer being bought by flowery words and sunshine and kittens promises. You have been overexposed Mr. President, do yourself a favor and head towards the Oval Office and work on that plan you keep touting. Yes, the one that does not yet exist. The plan promises alot, and now the citizens of this great land would like to see your plan.
Here is a letter to the editor published in the Detroit Free Press today. It about says it all.
Thank goodness for Mitch Albom! Without him I’d have never known I was a racist.
Here, I thought that I disagreed with the president’s policies because he nationalized some of the largest corporations in America (e.g. numerous banks, GM, Chrysler etc).
I thought that I disagreed with him because he has quadrupled the national debt and because he now wants to take over nearly 10% more of the US economy under the guise of fixing healthcare.
I thought that watching co-workers getting laid off by the dozen, and seeing my friends and neighbors lose their jobs as federal unemployment reaches 10% was reason enough to disagree with the President. Now I know better.
Thanks to reading Mitch’s Sept. 13 column (”Yell at Obama a new low but not the last”), I now know that the reason I disagree with the president is that I’m actually a racist.
At first this news made me feel bad, but then Mitch pointed out that it wasn’t really my fault; it’s the fault of talk radio and cable TV (I should have known that I’m not bright enough to form my own opinions).
I now know that only Mitch’s talk radio show should be considered palatable.
Thanks again, Mitch, for straightening me out on this!
This concerned citizen from Michigan (apparently a racist, he now knows it lol) wrote this in response to Mitch Alboms column published on September 13 in the Free Press where he arrogantly declared that disagreement with policy and ideology actually have nothing to do with policy and ideology. It stems from a deeper need to use the “N” word for a black President, and since we can’t do that, we can use the more socially acceptable terms such as anarchist, socialist, communist etc.
The premise of his argument is tied to the Rep. Joe Wilson story, which of course we have all heard by now the two words heard ’round the world. YOU LIE! An amazing sentence, a tiny sentence, but a sentence that apparently is not to be used in the Congress of the United States of America. Certainly not during the middle of a speech that was in fact laced with half-truths, deception, and vagueries. Yes, we know that in the bill it says that your not to be able to get the public option if you are an illegal resident. But the following paragraphs and pages leave loopholes so large that a Mack truck could drive through it. No coverage for illegals, but absolutely no check system in place to acheive that statement. In essence, a half-truth or as my mother told me as a child. A LIE.
For his lack of decorum in the joint session of Congress, Rep. Wilson did in fact apologize to the President. He acknowledged that he was in error by interrupting his speech (frankly, I disagree…if cheers from Dems are ok, why is dissent not ok?). The President accepted his apology, effectively ending the story right? No, not even close. The silliness has only just begun. Fundraising for Wilsons upcoming election opponent spiked to amazing levels, as he was demonized by the DailyKos kooks, and the faux intellectualism of many lefty reporters. He was a racist, he didn’t disagree with Obama’s statement…he hated the fact that a black man delivered it. Its ludicrous. Race baiters across the country have apparently united to form a wall of separation around this President, to make sure he does not encounter any policy disagreements. After all, it only means your racist right?
So, in its typical useless form, the House undertook the unprecedented step of passing a resolution of disapproval for Rep. Wilsons behavior. It has never been done. It was a monumental waste of time.
The 240-179 vote on the resolution of disapproval reflected the sharp partisan divide over the issue. Democrats insisted that the South Carolina Republican take responsibility for what they said was a serious breach of decorum. Republicans characterized the vote as a political stunt.
Wilson himself would not back down on his position that he owed the House no apology. Surrounded by Republican supporters, Wilson said Obama had “graciously accepted my apology and the issue is over.”
Thank God for journalists like Megyn Kelly, who have been blessed with a measure of common sense and decency.
Wait, but Wilson isn’t the only racist in town. Over a million protesters took to Pennsylvania Avenue marching to the Capitol to put our racism on display for the world…I mean, everyone saw the pictures of the Patriots in their white hoods right? No..you didn’t. But the attempt to marginalize and demonize the outpouring of anger over government (if you were there, you would know that the majority of anger was aimed at the Congress, not the President).
Racism is a weak argument. You cannot debate the merits, you can’t defend the Presidents indefensable policy. His mindset, his history, his associations, and his actions in the office of the President of the United States are admittedly progressive, which is merely double speak for socialist. Wait, according to Mitch Albom, that statement must be my inner racist coming out again. Ridiculous. Debate the facts.
The GOP has shown its weakness in the face of a radical left agenda, thankfully grassroots conservative voters across the country are wide awake to what is happening with the agenda being driven by President Obama. Sadly, the GOP is behind the curve at every turn. Here are a few examples from tonight….
First, the Republican response to a combative, yet eloquent delivery of a radical socialist agenda…while the content of the speech is decent, the delivery and charisma is enough to put you to sleep.
Ok wake up people!! Dr. Charles Boustany is done putting you to sleep.
House Democratic Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) called Wilson’s outburst “embarrassing,” while McCain said it was “totally disrespectful” and that there was “no place for it in that setting or any other.”
McCain said Wilson “should apologize for it immediately.”
Shortly thereafter, the hero of the night for conservatives across the country, and really across the world (the rest of the world does not want to see us descend into socialism) digressed into a lame apology for his conduct within the chamber. See, what I don’t understand is you said it, you meant it, why apologize for it? The constant cheering, hooting and hollering in favor or in dissent is appropriate, why not his little outburst?
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”
Oh yes, speaking of John McCain. This would be the same guy that at the very mention of his name, and one of his ideas just fell all over himself with glee as we winked, waved and gave Obama the thumbs up. Sickening. These guys really don’t have a clue as to what is happening to the country they grew up in. Falling for flowery words is not the way to govern and legislate. It’s time to clear that chamber of all the ineptness that fills it.
It seems that Sarah Palin may in fact be the only “republican” out there who actually speaks for the people. And she is actually unafraid to take on the Washington power establishment.
Ok, I’ve gotten that out of my system for now…back into the fight to stop the freight train towards socialism.
Yeah yeah, I know he didn’t call her out by name, but everyone is well aware of exactly who and what he was talking about. He was referring to Palin’s “death panel” assertion. Here is her response on her Facebook page tonight.
After all the rhetoric is put aside, one principle ran through President Obama’s speech tonight: that increased government involvement in health care can solve its problems.
Many Americans fundamentally disagree with this idea. We know from long experience that the creation of a massive new bureaucracy will not provide us with “more stability and security,” but just the opposite. It’s hard to believe the President when he says that this time he and his team of bureaucrats have finally figured out how to do things right if only we’ll take them at their word.
Our objections to the Democrats’ health care proposals are not mere “bickering” or “games.” They are not an attempt to “score short term political points.” And it’s hard to listen to the President lecture us not to use “scare tactics” when in the next breath he says that “more will die” if his proposals do not pass.
In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I’ve raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters. He called these concerns “bogus,” “irresponsible,” and “a lie” — so much for civility. After all the name-calling, though, what he did not do is respond to the arguments we’ve made, arguments even some of his own supporters have agreed have merit.
In fact, after promising to “make sure that no government bureaucrat …. gets between you and the health care you need,” the President repeated his call for an Independent Medicare Advisory Council — an unelected, largely unaccountable group of bureaucrats charged with containing Medicare costs. He did not disavow his own statement that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost … the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives….” He did not disavow the statements of his health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, and continuing to pay his salary with taxpayer dollars proves a commitment to his beliefs. The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments I’ve made, I’m going to call him out too.
It was heartening to hear the President finally recognize that tort reform is an important part of any solution. But this concession shouldn’t lead us to take our eye off the ball: the Democrats’ proposals will not reduce costs, and they will not deliver better health care. It’s this kind of “healthy skepticism of government” that truly reflects a “concern and regard for the plight of others.” We can’t wait to hear the details on that; we look forward to working with you on tort reform.
Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the War on Terror. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in the War on Terror, in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.
Remember, Mr. President, elected officials work for the people. Forcing a conclusion in order to claim a “victory” is not healthy for our country. We hear you say government isn’t always the answer; now hear us — that’s what we’ve been saying all along.
- Sarah Palin
The more Obama decides to bring Sarah Palin into the fight (by the way Mr. President, she is a private citizen now) the more he shines the light on the bad policy contained in this bill. Keep it coming Mr. President.
Finally a GOP Congressman willing to speak up and yell the truth. Inappropriate, sure…but much needed anyways.
A complete lack of decorum by South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson. But if the guy with the big microphone is willing to stand in front of Congress and the American people and lie, then he should be called a liar. Congratulations Joe Wilson on saying what thousands upon thousands of Americans were yelling at their television screens.
I watch with great amusement as liberal pundits across the country start foaming at the mouth at the very mention of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Last month when Mrs. Palin uttered what have now become the infamous words “death panels” the chattering class flew into a frenzy. She is so stupid they said, inflammatory rhetoric they said, intellectual lightweight they called her. And then, strangely within days, the provision she was refferring to in her death panel comment was removed from the bill entirely. Ah, the frothy-mouthed chatterers inside the beltway were proven wrong yet again. Sweet vindication for Palin, who unlike the majority of her opponents used a little deductive reasoning and logic to come to her conclusions.
Well…She is back. Yesterday on her Facebook page she ran some comments on the looming healthcare bill and today, it appeared in the Wall Street Journal Opinion section. And in typical Sarah Palin style (at least on this subject) she was right on track, now for a second time. And the elitists are going wild.
Let’s talk about specifics. In his Times op-ed, the president argues that the Democrats’ proposals “will finally bring skyrocketing health-care costs under control” by “cutting . . . waste and inefficiency in federal health programs like Medicare and Medicaid and in unwarranted subsidies to insurance companies . . . .”
First, ask yourself whether the government that brought us such “waste and inefficiency” and “unwarranted subsidies” in the first place can be believed when it says that this time it will get things right. The nonpartistan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) doesn’t think so: Its director, Douglas Elmendorf, told the Senate Budget Committee in July that “in the legislation that has been reported we do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount.”
Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He’s asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . .”
Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats’ proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels?
Read the rest of it, its good stuff to say the least. But now on the the amusement of it all, and that is the talking heads that are flying off the handle that *gasp* Sarah Palin was given a platform in the Wall Street Journal.
So here’s a challenge to the media: if you want to do justice to conservative ideas and find some balance in your coverage tomorrow, book serious Republicans with original ideas on your programs. If you don’t, Palin is giving herself a voice at your expense and through little effort of her own.
By implying, incidentally, that Palin gets help from a speechwriter, I mean to make an observation. Barack Obama didn’t draft his op-ed, either. But, reading Obama, it’s not a leap to believe that the ideas are truly his. Palin has no chops and no experience talking about health care and isn’t participating in this debate; the content of her op-ed piece isn’t original, and the points are points that Republicans make every day.
I say: bring her on. She is the id of the current Republican party: pure identity politics, no serious ideas for reform, and utterly unserious as a party of government. She would be the ideal representative of the current GOP on television.
As I find more, for entertainment purposes, I will continue to post the hatefulness. Judge the woman by the content of her words, not by your mainstream media driven false perception, which comes solely from the Alinsky model of demonization. Her initial popularity during the election drove the insanity, I mean, she was potentially in the way for the chosen One to take his spot in the White House.
Bill Clinton is back on the scene. He is offering pearls of wisdom from his years within the Oval Office, as he informed President Obama that if he were trying to pass healthcare (which one will remember that he failed miserably, then dubbed it Hillary-Care to deflect the blame) that he would bypass the GOP altogether. Brilliant piece of advice when you consider President Clintons real agenda (at least my theory on Bill Clintons read agenda, I won’t pretend to know exactly what is in his head.)
(CNN) — As President Obama gets set to address a joint-session of Congress on the issue of health care reform Wednesday night, former President Clinton says it’s time to forget about the Republican Party’s role in the process entirely.
“The president’s doing the right thing. It is both morally and politically right,” Clinton told Esquire Magazine in an interview published online Tuesday. “I wouldn’t even worry about the Republicans. I’d worry about executing.”
…
Still, Clinton said Obama’s chief worry should be ensuring the entire Senate Democratic caucus (59 members with the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy) is in support of the reform legislation, including Democrats from more conservative states, like Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.
“This electorate has suffered…and what they don’t know is whether our guys are going to stand and deliver. And sooner or later you’ve got to stand and deliver,” said Clinton.
Consider the Clinton agenda here. He may in fact be genuinely concerned for Obama’s healthcare plan (or lack thereof). But one thing to remember about Bill Clinton, he is obsessed with his own legacy, and he is an absolute master politician and wordsmith.
Bill Clinton is well aware of the uproar from the American people in the last few months, as healthcare as been debated. He is also aware of the tanking of the popularity numbers of this president, which have tumbled at historic levels. He knows from his own experience that you cannot completely exclude the minority party without paying a hefty political price. Polls have clearly shown (other than what you might find on DailyKos) that the majority of the American people do not want what the President is currently selling. For the President to push ahead with a go-it-alone strategy is politically suicidal. Bill knows this.
I still believe that Bill Clinton is setting the table for a 2012 primary run for his wife Hillary. It would be unprecedented, but with what will undoubtedly be a one term Presidency for Obama, why not set up Hillary for a potential run at it. Hillary will be past the viable age to run for President if you wait until 2016. 2012 is the time. And Bill wants to make that happen. He does not want to end his public life. If you watch Bill Clinton closely, you will notice that he very shrewdly picks his spots to make his presence felt. He has done it again.
All of this is just a theory, I may in fact be dead wrong. Time will tell. And I will keep watching. I am fascinated by President Bill Clinton.
Open wide America. Your about to have comprehensive healthcare “reform” shoved down your throats, and it will be soon.
The ironic part of it all is that we the people of the United States are supposedly the ones that will benefit from all of this, yet the American people don’t even know what the bill is going to be. Some on Capitol Hill have stated that there is not a new bill, that they are still using HR 3200, yes the monstrosity that started this whole debate, as the framework and possibly even the bill that will be used. Robert Gibbs in fact noted today in his press conference that they are not starting over (apparently nobody listened during the townhalls) and that apparently the President also will not be presenting a bill during his address to a joint session of Congress tommorow night.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Obama will in fact be pressing for the public option, along with the Senates new idea to levy a large tax($3800) on those without insurance. Yes, that would be forcing those without insurance (whether by choice or otherwise) to go on to the public insurance option. Bye bye freedom and free market principles.
Some habits die hard as they say. Once a community organizer, always a community organizer. President Obama’s political organization (we are told is NOT taxpayer funded, but somehow I have a hard time believing that, and not particularly interested in researching it) has sent out another mass email to all members of the Organizing for America website. The Political Fish is an OAF member you ask? Why yes, yes I am. For the explicit reason of the email I received today. Its good to know what the left wing crazies out there are saying about Constitution loving Americans. The OAF Blog has been quite a hotspot for political rhetoric, but more on that later. Today I received an email from the director of OAF (mass email) stating what the real intention of health care reform is all about. Power.
Opponents of health insurance reform have power. Some reap huge profits from the status quo. Others take large campaign contributions from those who profit.
So they’ll do anything to keep the current system in place. When fact-based arguments don’t work, they attack President Obama with outlandish lies about a government takeover and euthanizing the elderly. And once that doesn’t work, they’ll go even further.
We don’t know what they’ll do next. What we do know is that we’ll have to be prepared for anything — ready to set the record straight, ready to make sure the media and Congress see the overwhelming support for reform, and ready to pass real reform this year.
But we’ll need the resources to do it — to pay for rapid-response ads in key districts and states, organizers to put together large rallies and grassroots events throughout the country, and the best technology available to empower volunteers — all at a moment’s notice. Please chip in $5 or more to help us pass real reform, this year.
This was never going to be easy. As candidate Obama said just three days before the election: “Don’t think for a moment that power will concede without a fight.” Now, we’re seeing how true that really is.
These same well-financed forces have killed reform in the past, and they’re aiming to do it again.
But here’s why this time can be different: There are folks like you, all around the country, who are ready to go toe-to-toe with the special interests, even when they’re not fighting fair.
And we’ll keep at it, because we know that the work we’re doing together right now can make the lives of hundreds of millions better for decades to come.
But we need your help to keep it up. Please donate $5 or more to help beat the special interests:
There’s too much at stake for any of us to sit this one out. Please chip in.
Thanks,
Mitch

You will notice the obvious omission about doing whats best for the country. Even the title of the email was a one word subject line. Power.
Healthcare reform is nothing more than healthcare control. With control of 1/6 th of the US economy comes great power. That is what this administration is after, in all facets of their operation. The change that Obama has campaigned on is very real. He wants total and complete power over the people of this country. He subverts Constitutional authority and elevates avowed Communists to “departments” with enormous budgets, all of which escape oversight by the elected members of the United States government. They seek power. Stuffing through enormous legislation at warp speed, as to avoid criticism of the people. Power.
Its time to take the power back from the resident of the White House and put it back into the hands of everyday citizens.
There is something special about watching a United States soldier stand up to the elected leaders (and I use that term loosely) and tell them what the Constitution is all about.
(H/T Redstate)This soldier (name not given) stood up in the ObamaCare townhall meeting with Senator McCaskill and demanded an apology for not following through on her oath taken to defend the Constitution. His passion, intelligence and wonderful articulation speaks volumes to why an American soldier should be considered our brightest and best heroes. Take a listen to the wonderfully articulated argument he puts forth. You may find yourself giving him a standing ovation like the crowd…
That my friends is in a nutshell exactly why the American people are loudly and aggressively voicing their anger at their elected officials. Healthcare is NOT a civil right, it is NOT an inalienable right, and does NOT fall under the general welfare clause of the Constitution. Lets keep working to kill this healthcare bill. Scrap it, start over, and reform the parts that actually need reformation (hello tort reform). The government should NOT be in the business of health control, as he so aptly put it.
